Pioneering Research Practices and Behavioral Interventions for Social Good

In addition to my product expertise, I am a behavioral and social researcher who has dedicated my career to understanding what makes people tick: what drives and motivates their actions and decisions. I’ve spent over 20 years refining my qualitative and quantitative research practices to understand people’s challenges and design interventions to solve them in the right way.

When I became a mom, I began to independently investigate avenues for research that could lead to social good. As part of that mission, I established the donor and fundraiser research programs for GoFundMe, the social fundraising platform. My focus is on developing research approaches and designing interventions to increase charitable giving, close the gender gap, and boost civic engagement.

Current Research Project: Improving the Lives of Moms

After conducting hundreds of one-one-one interviews with mothers, I have identified the most challenging stages of motherhood as identified by the women currently in the throes of each stage.

The goal of the What Mothers Want research initiative is to deeply understand how mothers have addressed their biggest challenges to provide best practices and interventions to support mothers at all stages of their parenting journey.

Civic Engagement: Understanding Voter Motivations

Innovative Relational Research Approach to Understand Voter and Constituent Preferences

Political polling is broken. The process of understanding voters’ and constituents’ preferences through polling data is limited at best, and inaccurate and misleading at worst.

I partner with nonprofits and social welfare and advocacy organizations, including the Hoosier Victory Alliance, to establish accurate and robust research approaches to understand the needs and concerns of U.S. citizens.

Through a combination of in-depth peer to peer qualitative interviews and attitudinal surveys, we provide a deep, holistic view of the voter segments and provide strategic recommendations to increase engagement.

Charitable Giving: Drivers of Donor Philanthropy

The Common Life Experiences that Drive Giving Behavior

I have conducted research with thousands of donors to establish the Donor Lifecycle Model to understand Charitable Giving behavior from their perspective. Through this large-scale research study, I have identified the patterns of donor life experiences that highly correlate with increased giving behavior.
